World of Tanks Guiness World Record attempt winner crowned at Arnold Pro Strongman Australia

Over the weekend, the Arnold Pro Strongman Australia was held in Melbourne. To celebrate World of Tanks update 1.0, Wargaming sponsored a World of Tanks Guinness World Record attempt for a man to pull an eight tonne FV102 Striker tank.

The potential Guinness World Record was for pulling the eight-tonne tank 10 metres.

Aussie strongman, Eddie Williams, who hails from the Central Coast, NSW won the World of Tanks Guinness World Record attempt with a blistering time of 36.65 seconds.

At only 27 years of age, Williams completed the 10m pull 10 seconds faster than the runner-up, Trey Mitchell of the USA. At the completion of the event Williams dedicated his performance to his cousin who is recently deceased.

A clearly emotional Williams celebrated his win and thanked his wife and family for their support. Williams also said;

I really wanted it. Now I can say that I have won the first-ever tank pull event in the world

Also present at the event was Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is himself is a proud tank owner.

While the World of Tanks Guinness World Record Attempt has been completed, Williams is not yet the Guinness World Record holder as the record is still being verified by Guinness.

If it is verified by Guinness, Williams will be the first ever record holder to pull a tank 10 metres. The achievement is huge and is well worth celebrating.

The event is also in celebration of the World of Tanks update 1.0 which will be launching sometime soon.

World of Tanks is available on PC and update 1.0 will be released soon.
