Rumour – GTA6 location, character and release date details

umours about Grand Theft Auto 6 have started appearing online in the last few days. According to the rumours, GTA6 details are already being leaked and include the title’s location, characters and release window.

These rumours come courtesy of The Know, a daily news show that falls under the Rooster Teeth banner. According to information received from an unnamed source, The Know is claiming to have some pretty juicy GTA6 details.

GTA6 Details

The main thrust of the alleged GTA6 details is that it will take place across two locations, will feature the franchise’s first female playable character and will be released as late as 2022.

The two locations in question are reported as being Vice City and South America. Players will spend most of their time in Rockstar’s version of Miami, but will also fly to South American locations for part of the game.

A female playable character will be included in GTA6, though there are no details as to whether there will be multiple playable characters like GTAV.

The Know’s source claims that the release date for GTA6 is still three to four years away. A release date in 2022 was mentioned as to how far away GTA6 may be.

All of this information shouldn’t be taken as gospel of course. The Know has been right with some information in the past, including revealing Dark Souls III information well ahead of time.

However, as with all rumours and leaks, The Know certainly doesn’t have a flawless track record. Paired with the fact that Rockstar is notorious for not having information leak and these rumours may just turn out to be unfounded.

That’s not to say that the idea of these GTA6 details being true isn’t exciting. Vice City is considered one of the best Grand Theft Auto titles in the series and a return to the location would be welcome.

As would the inclusion of a female protagonist. Waiting until 2022 isn’t exactly ideal, but again, Rockstar works to their own schedule and won’t release anything until it’s good and ready.

Don’t expect any concrete GTA6 details soon

With Rockstar hard at work on Red Dead Redemption 2, any official word on GTA6 details will be a very long way away.

We wouldn’t expect Rockstar to make any official statements, teases or announcements until long after Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released.

Rockstar is unlikely to want to pull focus from RDR2 and any DLC that will come out for that title. There’s also the ongoing success of GTA Online, which means that GTA6 is hardly a priority at this point.

The Know may be confident in its unnamed source and reporting of these unsubstantiated GTA6 details, but we’d caution fans to wait and see.
