Super Mario Odyssey is out now. It’s an incredible game and it’s also huge. Not to worry though, we’ve got your back with a number of handy guides, tips and hints. Now that I’ve said it’s enormous, I bet you’re wondering how many worlds there are in the game?
Let’s take a look.
How Many Worlds are there in Super Mario Odyssey?
Super Mario Odyssey‘s worlds don’t seem all that big in the beginning, but each one holds dozens of Power Moons, some easy to collect, others not so easy. All-in-all there are 14 regular worlds and two special worlds in Super Mario Odyssey.
The worlds are;
Cap Kingdom
Home to Cappy and the cap-people. They seem to love hats quite a bit. This world is the smallest in the game and is the first one you’ll get to explore.
Cascade Kingdom
The Cascade Kingdom is a world lost in time. You’ll find fossils and maybe even a dinosaur or two.
Sand Kingdom
This desert is cold instead of hot and it looks like it’s Bowser’s fault.
Lake Kingdom
The Lake Kingdom is the first of Super Mario Odyssey’s water worlds. There are plenty of Power Moons to find, underwater caves to explore and creatures to capture.
Wooded Kingdom
A gorgeous forest tended by sentient watering cans. That’s what awaits you in the Wooded Kingdom. Be on the lookout for Pihrana Plants and the poison the spit everywhere while you’re there.
Cloud Kingdom
This tiny world is home to one of the very first major boss fights. Stay on your toes.
Lost Kingdom
The Lost Kingdom is a strange rainforest swamp, except all the water is lava. Everything in the jungle still wants to hurt you though, so that’s normal.
Metro Kingdom
You’ve all seen the Metro Kingdom. This is where you’ll find New Donk City and regular sized people walking around. It’s pretty weird. Fun fact, Pauline is the Mayor of New Donk City. Neat
Snow Kingdom
What’s a Mario game without a snow world? Here’s where you’ll meet some adorable chubby seals who like to race and where you’ll take on a sub-boss.
Seaside Kingdom
This is where you can take Mario to sunbathe. This world was featured in the Nintendo Direct when Mario was shirtless. Remember? This world has lots of things to see (or sea?) and do and has one of the best boss fights.
Luncheon Kingdom
The Luncheon Kingdom is home to the fork people and a giant bird who loves stew. The water is lava and there are veggies everywhere. The Luncheon Kingdom is weird.
Ruined Kingdom
A derelict castle leads upwards to a boss-fight. How big is the boss? Let’s just say it’s massively enormously gigantic. Good luck, you’re gonna need it.
Bowser’s Kingdom
Looks like Bowser has decided to decorate his kingdom in a feudal Japanese style. Can’t say that it suits him, he definitely does not have any honour.
Moon Kingdom
That’s right. The moon. Here the gravity is low, but spirits are high. What self-respecting villain wouldn’t hold their kidnap wedding in such an exotic location. The Moon Kingdom has some of the best bits in the entire game. Make sure you’re very thorough.
Above are the 14 regular worlds in the game. Once you’ve beaten Bowser and watched the credits you’ll unlock the 15th world.
Mushroom Kingdom
The good old Mushroom Kingdom makes an appearance in Super Mario Odyssey and it’s certainly looking a little different than when it was on N64. You can visit Peach’s Castle, swim in the moat, chase rabbits and more. There are a lot of secrets and things to unlock in The Mushroom Kingdom. Lucky we’re here to help out.
Dark Side
To unlock this world, you’ll need to have collected 250 Power Moons. At the time of writing, we have collected 210. Once we’ve collected another 40 Power Moons we’ll be able to travel here. We do know that it’s the Dark Side of the Moon and it’s where the Broodals come from.
PowerUp! has been incredibly fortunate to have received a copy of Super Mario Odyssey ahead of release. We’ve managed to play through and finish the game and have prepared a number of guides. Some of these guides are a work in progress as Super Mario Odyssey is enormous.
