Devolver Digital and Team Lazerbeam have announced Shroom and Gloom, “a moody first-person, roguelike double-deckbuilder bursting with fungal foes and mountains of mega-combos!”
Shroom and Gloom sees players having to manage two decks: one for combat and one for exploration. Played in first-person, players will explore “through hand drawn dungeons of fungal foes” as they try to make their way to the heart of The Gloom.
Per Devolver, “Shroom and Gloom offers unique ways for players to grow and modify their cards across two distinct decks, infinitely. Use the combat deck to survive fierce battles, and the explore deck to navigate dungeons, transform your cards, and unlock new weapons and abilities! Grow low level starting cards into over-powered attacks, or modify rare cards into game-breaking super-weapons.”

Shroom and Gloom also offers a unique twist on combat with the ability to eat your enemies.
Deveolver says, “In a dungeon full of fungus, why block your enemies when you could eat them instead? Shroom and Gloom features a bounty of ways for you to season, skewer or roast your foes, then eat them to restore lost health. Better yet, throw your roasted enemies into a pot, and cook up some game-changing soups!”
Shroom and Gloom will come to Early Access later in 2025, but for now, players can take it for a spin with the brand-new demo, which is now available. The demo allows players to fight through 26 tunnels and battle a number of enemies and bosses.
Cape Town-based Team Lazerbeam “has been on a quest to blast people in the face with joy and celebrate imperfection. Embracing a DIY punk ethos, the 8-strong Lazerbeams cram pieces of their personalities into every project, rough edges and all, to create experiences that feel handmade and human.”
