Aussie developed visual novel, The Last Waltz, is set in the world of competitive ballroom dancing

Aussie developer and publisher, DigitallyDownloaded.net, has announced its first game, The Last Waltz. Set in the “vibrant world” of Dancesport, The Last Waltz is, according to DigitallyDownloaded.net, the first visual novel or video game to look at Dancesport or competitive ballroom dancing.

Per DigitallyDownloaded.net, The Last Waltz “offers a visually stunning and emotionally intense story that explores the complexities of dance partnerships, ambition, sensuality, and self-discovery.

“Set against the backdrop of glittering ballrooms and intense rehearsals, the story delves deep into what drives competitors in this unique sport that blends athleticism and artistry.”

Producer Matt Sainsbury said, “This is a story that I’ve wanted to tell for more than 15 years, ever since I discovered Dancesport myself, and the stars have finally aligned to make it happen. I’ve been fortunate to find an artist to do the incredible complexities of Dancesport justice, a music team to create a 35-track, authentic Dancesport soundtrack, and worked with some world standard dancers to bring video into the visual novel and, hopefully, introduce a sport to people that may never have seen it before.”

In the trailer above, you can check out the artwork, design, characters and music that will accompany the narrative-driven gameplay of The Last Waltz.
