Dexter: Resurrection premieres on Paramount+ on Friday, 11 July 2025 with two episodes

Let’s be real. Dexter was a great show that suffered some decline and ended with a thud. Dexter: New Blood was fantastic, but also couldn’t stick the landing. The final episode of New Blood was arguably worse than the ending of the original run, but now, Dexter has a chance at a second do-over.

Dexter: Resurrection is a continuation of Dexter: New Blood and retcons the Dark Defender’s death at the hands of his son, Harrison. Per Showtime and Paramount, Dexter: Resurrection “takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realising the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right.”

Set to premiere with two episodes on Paramount+ on Friday, 11 July 2025, here’s hoping the team can get it right this time.

Dexter: Resurrection

Dexter: Resurrection is being helmed by Clyde Phillips, who ran Dexter for its first four seasons and was the showrunner on Dexter: New Blood. Michael C. Hall is again returning as Dexter and will be joined by Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, with James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater.

David Dastmalchian, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter and Eric Stonestreet are also set to guest star as Gareth, Lowell, Mia and Al, respectively.

It was recently confirmed that both John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits are set to reprise their roles as Arthur Mitchell and Miguel Prado in Dexter: Resurrection, making this series full to the brim with talent and killer casting.

Dexter: Resurrection follows both Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin as part of the Dexter renaissance and expansion of that universe. A Trinity Killer prequel series is also in development at Paramount+. Original Sin “became the most streamed global original series for Showtime in ten years. The season finale aired in February and scored 2.68 million global viewers, marking it the most streamed episode of the season. The series, which is available to stream now on Paramount+, delivered over 15 million owned engagements across social during season run.”

I have my fingers and toes firmly crossed for Dexter: Resurrection and hope we finally get the ending that Dexter deserves.

Dexter: Resurrection will premiere on 11 July 2025 on Paramount+.
