Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 premieres 16 May, official trailer released

News of Wrexham AFC’s historic third consecutive promotion is now well-known and splashed across social media. The club and its owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have seemingly done the impossible, and now, Disney has announced that we’ll get to see it all unfold in the fourth season of Welcome to Wrexham.

Premiering on 16 May 2025, with two episodes, Season 4 of Welcome to Wrexham chronicles the team’s meteoric rise and pressure faced in the English Football League’s League One. Obviously, knowing the team is promoted again is a giant spoiler, but that can’t dampen the feel-good fun of Welcome to Wrexham.

Welcome to Wrexham Season 4

Per Disney;

“In 2020, Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Red Dragons in the hopes of turning the Club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The world took notice and the Club achieved back-to-back promotions to bring the Reds into the English Football League’s League One for the first time in 20 years. As they continue to rise in the pyramid, the stakes get higher with a new level of intensity, competition and costs, all while the Club continues to be plagued with injury and fans demand the signing of new talent. Dedicated staff and supporters celebrate the team’s climb toward the Premiership while bracing against the new-found challenges that come with each new tier up the EFL. Will Wrexham AFC rise to the challenge and do what no team has ever done before?”

Season 4 of Welcome to Wrexham also follows the Wrexham AFC’s Women’s Team as they take part in the Welsh Adran Premier League and set their sights on glory at the top of the League.

It may seem odd to follow a Welsh soccer team owned by a couple of Hollywood celebs, but Welcome to Wrexham is a brilliant bit of docu-drama that’s equal parts heartwarming, heartbreaking and hilarious. I don’t think there’s been an episode in the first three seasons that hasn’t made me tear up or stand up and cheer…or both.

Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 premieres on Disney+ on 16 May 2025.
