Samsung just dropped a 57-inch ultrawide Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor

Australia, August 23, 2023 – If size doesn’t matter, then Samsung obviously didn’t get the memo. Samsung Electronics Australia is rewriting the gaming monitor rulebook with a mindboggling new entry to its ultrawide’s – the new Odyssey Neo G9 (G95NC model). It’s officially the most bonkers ultrawide in the world boasting dual Ultra-High-Definition (DUHD) in a colossal 57-inch display. This is not just a monitor; it’s a damn window into the multiverse!

A 57-Inch Goliath of visual stimulation

The Odyssey Neo G9 is a titan of a monitor that boasts the accolade of being the World’s First Dual Ultra-High-Definition (DUHD) screen, a feat that earned it the prestigious Best of Innovation Award at CES 2023. Basically, that’s saying it is the equivalent of two 4K monitors side by side for a total resolution of 7680 x 2160 in a 32:9 aspect ratio and an all enveloping 1000R curve. Enveloped within this immersive cocoon, you’ll be thrust into digital worlds with impressive clarity and a panoramic field of view that’s nothing short of mind-blowing.

Phil Gaut, the Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory at Samsung Australia, had this to say: “As we stride forward as pioneers in the global display industry, Samsung consistently seeks to redefine the boundaries of excellence, particularly in response to the ever-evolving needs of the gaming community. With the introduction of the world’s first dual UHD monitor[2], the 57” Odyssey Neo G9 paves the way for monitors in 2023 and beyond, helping gamers see new levels of detail with an incredible field of view

Quantum Matrix Meets Quantum Mini LED

Samsung continues this mad scientist experiment with a combination of Quantum Matrix Technology merged seamlessly with Quantum Mini LED back lighting. The Neo G9 has a whopping 2048 local dimming zones to cover that massive expanse. The result should be excellent contrast, vivid color, and an end to that dreaded blooming effect.

Additionally, the Neo G9 is VESA Display HDR™1000 certified with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits which is perfect for true HDR experiences. Throw in a 240Hz refresh rate and a lightning-fast 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and you’ve got a ticket to a realm of smooth, lag-free HDR gaming. The monitor supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for tear free gaming and you’ll definitely need it when playing CyberPunk 2077 at this resolution.

The Power of DisplayPort 2.1

The Odyssey Neo G9 isn’t shy about connectivity, boasting the somewhat new VESA-certified DisplayPort (DP) 2.1 which should give much higher bandwidth, swift refresh rates, and enhanced performance in line with it’s insane resolution. I don’t expect anyone with anything else than a GeForce RTX 4080 to hope for that kind of performance though.

There’s also HDMI 2.1 so you can attach your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. While the consoles don’t support the 32:9 aspect ratio, you can split the display in half for each console to run; even at the same time. The Odyssey Neo G9 also has a USB hub, simplifying your setup and granting you control over your multiple peripherals.

The Odyssey Neo G9 isn’t just about gaming; it’s about creating an ambiance that’s as immersive as the gameplay itself. An ergonomic stand, Core Lighting+, and CoreSync synchronize to create an environment that matches your gaming mood. The lines blur between reality and the virtual realm as your monitor becomes an extension of your gaming experience.

The Grand Unveiling: Pricing and Availability

The 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 is making its grand entrance on August 28, 2023, exclusively through the Samsung online store. The price tag? A retail price of $3,199. And here’s a golden nugget – if you’re swift enough to register your interest between now and August 27, 2023, an exclusive offer awaits you.
