Cyberpunk 2077’s Huge “Next-Gen” Patch Is Finally Here

After a tumultuous launch back in November of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has today finally been patched to include next-gen console support, along with a whole host of other improvements. CD Projekt Red walked players through the changes they can expect Patch 1.5 in a Twitch stream earlier today, marking a pretty massive leap in quality for those playing on home consoles. The 50 GB (!!!) patch is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and boasts some beautiful visual upgrades as well as tweaks to multiple in-game systems and a general tidy-up the game was in desperate need of.

Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Patch

The biggest change next-gen console owners can look forward to is the enhanced visual elements including 4K ray-tracing with dynamic scaling. This alone is a massive step up over the previous iterations of the game on console, which were considered by many to be quite flat compared to the PC build. Elsewhere we’ve got faster load times, performance and stability optimisation, and a variety of under the hood fixes to make for an improved Cyberpunk 2077 experience.

In the game itself, you’ll also be treated to a refresh of some gameplay elements including the map, economy, skill trees, character relationships and much more. CD Projekt Red has also thrown in some free content in the patch with new character customisation options and playspaces now available too.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Cyberpunk 2077 story without some technical hiccups. While the patch itself is a huge improvement to the game, actually installing it might be a little cumbersome. The devs are recommending that players delete the existing build of the game and download a fresh version, and they’ve put together a page for how to best transfer your progress to this new and improved game.
