Sabaton and World of Tanks are teaming up again with a new in-game event and music video

Wargaming and metal band Sabaton have announced their brand-new collaboration for World of Tanks. Having partnered in the past, Sabaton and World of Tanks are coming together in 2021 for a new, in-game event and special music video for Steel Commanders.

The in-game event — Spirit of War — kicks off on August 27 and will run until September 6. While the event is live, players will need to complete challenges in order to unlock the game’s first Tier IX Premium tank.

This tank, the Strv K is featured in the Steel Commanders music video and is manned by the Sabaton Crew including Brodén, who recorded a custom voiceover that’s full of Easter eggs for fans to discover.

World of Tanks and Sabaton

“It’s been a great experience working with the World of Tanks and Wargaming guys on this huge project. Together, we made an epic music video for ‘Steel Commanders’ and it’s the perfect way to kick off our massive collaboration,” states Joakim Brodén, lead vocalist of Sabaton. “We’re proud to be part of this brand new in-game event that features the first-ever Tier IX Premium tank as the ultimate prize, as well as us as crew members!”

Players who don’t manage to unlock the Strv K will still earn a tonne of in-game rewards and for each stage they clear, they’ll earn a 10% discount off the purchase price of the new tank. Players will also earn a discount on purchasing the Strv K’s 3D style.

In anticipation of this new in-game event and the collaboration with World of Tanks, we were fortunate enough to chat with Sabaton and ask them a few questions. Check out the video below to see what they had to say.

Sabaton and World of Tanks‘ latest collaboration kicks off with the Spirit of War event on August 27. Players will have access to the event until September 6.

“We’ve really enjoyed working with the Sabaton guys and we’re happy to have them onboard this project,” states Max Chuvalov, Publishing Director, World of Tanks. “Our players love their music, and we complement each other as we are both fascinated with military history. Plus, we hope the new tune will inspire tankers to go that extra mile for the victory.”

World of Tanks is free-to-play on PC.
