Ariana Grande Headlines Fortnite Concert, Looks Fantastic

God is a woman and She’s coming to Fortnite. Pop icon Ariana Grande is set to headline the upcoming “Rift Tour” concert event which will run this weekend in-game. The event will feature five shows that are free to attend for all players, whisking them away with Grande on a musical tour of multiple realities. Things will kick off at 8 am AEST on Saturday morning, rolling through multiple sessions that wrap up on Monday the 9th at 8 am AEST.

Grande’s arrival in the game is being celebrated in the traditional Fortnite way – a shiny new skin and items. Players can nab an Ariana Grande Skin and Piggy Smallz Backbling in the item shop with more info on these expected later this week. “Working with Epic and the Fortnite team to bring my music to life inside the game has been so fun and such an honour,” Grande said about the experience, going on to note that she “..can’t wait to join my fans and see all of your reactions..”

The Rift Tour sounds like an ambitious in-game event, looking to pair Grande’s popular tracks with activities based on existing gameplay in some kind of wild ride amalgamation for the senses. Joining your mates for an online event like this is still the best bet most of us have for experiencing a concert these days, doubly so given Grande’s huge popularity.

You can download Fortnite for free now in preparation for the event, with Epic Games recommending you log on about an hour before things kick off on the weekend. Fortnite recently hosted an in-game film festival too, yet another notch in the game’s growing multimedia platform.
