Short Nite Returns To Fortnite This Weekend

Fornite fans are getting weird with it again as “Short Nite” returns to the game for its second outing. The event is a celebration of creativity that will run for about 40 mins and feature a series of animated shorts made by up and coming creators. Players are being invited to watch the shorts while hanging out in the Party Royale zone or watch them picture-in-picture mode during regular rounds this weekend.

Once players have dropped into Party Royale they’ll need to head over to one of the massive screenings taking place. Just like a real-life festival only Fortnitey. Given that several Australian cities are currently in the throes of another round of lockdowns, a collective digital festival might be just what the doctor ordered.

This will be the second time Short Nite has taken place, headlined by creators Simon’s Cats and Snail’s House. The full lineup is yet to be announced so there are sure to be a few surprises in store but the promise of the event alone is enough to be excited about. The relationship between fan creations and Fortnite is an ever-evolving one and it’s lovely to see Epic Games lean into something that began as an unofficial celebration.

To celebrate the debut of Gildedguy Gets Up, Fortnite is also offering a Gildedguy skin and items in the shop which you can grab right now. If you can’t make it for the debut don’t fret, the event will kick off at 4am AEST tomorrow morning but it will run until the 26th at 4am AEST so you have plenty of time to check out the shorts.

Fornite is currently experiencing an alien invasion as part of the latest chapter of content, aptly titled “Invasion”. We checked out the new stuff and had some mixed but mostly positive feelings on it which you can check out right here.
