Bungie is bringing Destiny 2 to Xbox Game Pass and optimising for Xbox Series X

Bungie and Microsoft are getting back together, sort of. At the Xbox Games Showcase today, it was announced that Destiny 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass in September. Game Pass subscribers will be able to access all current expansions and Beyond Light when it’s released.

This gives Destiny 2 a potential 10 million Game Pass subscribers to add to the player pool, though there’s likely to be some who already own the game of course.

Being part of Game Pass means that Destiny 2 players, on Xbox, will also be able to play the game “whenever and wherever they want on their phone or tablet, from the cloud.”

Finally, it was announced that a special version of Destiny 2 is in development to be optimised for Xbox Series X and will launch later this year.

Running in 4K and at 60 frames per second, Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X will quite literally be a game-changer for long-time fans and new players alike. Destiny 2 will also support cross-generation play and Smart Delivery, which will ensure that you always play the best version of Destiny 2, no matter which console you’re playing on.

Destiny 2’s next expansion, Beyond Light, launches on November 10.
