It sure seems like Hyper Scape is set in the Assassin’s Creed universe

Hyper Scape is a futuristic, FPS Battle Royale being developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The cat was let out of the bag a little early, but there’s still a lot to talk about. Hyper Scape, like other BR games, drops 100 players into a steadily shrinking arena, with the last person standing declared the winner.

It’s free-to-play and is coming to PC and consoles and will include a Battle Pass with both free and premium tracks. Players will need to loot gear, can ping points of interest and are able to revive their teammates.

One thing we noted when we were introduced to the game was how Hyper Scape and Assassin’s Creed seemed to share some similarities.

Hyper Scape & Assassin’s Creed

Right off the bat, the Hyper Scape is a virtual world that, according to Creative Director Jean-Christophe Guyot, is “the largest virtual hub, where people go to learn, work, meet and have fun.

“One of the few ways to improve your lot in life is to compete in an intense urban battle royale that unfolds within the Hyper Scape. Become a champion and see your life change in ways you could only dream of!”

Set in 2054, it’s conceivable to see the world in Hyper Scape as the logical extension of the work Abstergo has undertaken with the Animus. Neo-Arcadia’s overall aesthetic and the way the Decay causes sections to disappear in odd, triangular shapes, all looks very much like Assassin’s Creed.

I asked Guyot if the two series shared a universe. He said;

Prisma Dimensions strongly denies any and all claims of being affiliated with an organization named “the Templars”.

At Prisma, we build meaningful connections that span the globe and foster development. We build new frontiers that nurture, educate and connect the population. We build technologies that push the limits of this world and offer an escape route to new dimensions. And we do this for you.

Our mission is to provide you with unique opportunities to grow and prosper in today’s hyper-connected world. A world with limitless opportunities. A world waiting for you to discover it.

That’s not a confirmation but it’s sure not much a denial either.

Hyper Scape will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
