Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Review – Simply the Best

I’ve used a lot of earbuds in my time. Wired or wireless the Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 2 are the best of all of them. For the longest time, I was convinced that my AirPods were as good as wireless earbuds got. However, when the True Wireless 2 arrived I realised just how much better the listening experience could be. Whether listening to music, taking phone calls and even playing remote Dungeons & Dragons, the True Wireless 2 handled it all with aplomb.

And not only do they sound amazing, they look the part too. When I opened up the True Wireless 2’s packaging, I was greeted by the charging case. Finished in a rough grey cotton, it eschews the standard, gloosy plastic for a more rustic and high end look and feel.

The case is also much larger than other wireless earbud cases I’ve seen before and is a rectangular shape. It’s much harder to misplace and much easier to find on your desk. Especially if you’re like me and your desk is a mess.

The case opens and closes with a satisfying, magnetic click. It doesn’t look, sound or feel like plastic and really helps sell the high-end experience Sennheiser is going for with the True Wireless 2.

True Wireless 2 Review

The earbuds themselves are a matte plastic with circular mettalic sections used for the controls. The matte finish removes the possibility for greasy fingerprints and tones down any graishness wireless earbuds have. The metal is grooved for tactile awareness too and is incredibly responsive to the tough.

Wearing the True Wireless 2 earbuds is incredibly comfortable. Often I would wear them for several hours at a time without even noticing they were still in. Not once did I need to remove them to give my ears a rest, nor did they ever become even remotely uncomfortable. It’s a true testament to the ergonomic design of the True Wireless 2.

Better still, it’s often concerning when you wear wireless earbuds that they’ll fall out and disappear, especially if you’re wearing them while being active. I’m happy to report that no amount of regular jostling could dislodge these earbuds from my ears. Only when I jumped up and down as hard as I could while swinging my head around did I manage to get one to fall out.

It’s pretty unlikley you’ll be exercising like that anyway.

When it comes to the audio quality, this is Sennheiser and you know what to expect. Perfection. And the True Wireless 2 delivers. With noise cancelling on, music plays as though your in a room filled with speakers. The nuance of every song and instrument can be clearly heard and the depth of sound is truly amazing.

Highs and lows are equally represented and should you wish to fiddle with the equaliser, the Smart Control app lets you do so.

But it’s not just music that the True Wireless 2 handles flawlessly. Often, wireless earbuds have great sound for music and the like but are terrible when it comes to phone calls. Not so in this case. Answering a phone call is as easy as tapping the earbud and speaking. The quality of voice comms is second-to-none and there wasn’t a single time I experienced a drop in quality.

I played a Dungeons & Dragons session for several hours, using the True Wireless 2 as my headset and it was great. Everyone could hear me and I could hear the other players clearly.

The True Wireless 2 also comes with Transparent Hearing which allows you to hear the world around you, while still listening to music and taking your phone calls. It’s a really handy feature you don’t even realise you need until you’ve started using it.

Battery life on the True Wireless 2 is exceptional. Sennheiser claims you get seven hours from a charge and that estimate is bang on. I’ve used these earbuds almost non-stop and have only run them completely down once or twice. The charging case keeps them topped up nicely and keeps them safe so there’s no reason not to have them in it when you’re not using them.

Connectivity is also a breeze. I was able to connect the earbuds to my iPhone, laptop and desktop with ease and the True Wireless 2 are clever enough to know which device to connect to whilst I’m using them.

The Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds are THE BEST earbuds I have ever used and come incredibly highly recommended. If you’re in the market for incredible sound, comfort and usability, look no further.
