Get your first look at Sakura Wars’ combat here

Coming to PS4 at the end of April, Sakura Wars, developed by SEGA is part Action RPG, part visual novel and part dating sim. Set in the 1940s in Tokyo, players control Kamiyama Seijūrō, a member of the Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division. After becoming captain of the Flower Division, it’s revealed to Kamiyama that the group is at risk of being disbanded.

In order to save the squad, Kamiyama and the Flower Division have to win the Combat Revue World Games. In doing so, the Flower Division can remain intact.

The Games are “an intense, dynamic tournament where combat revues from around the world compete in elaborate stage performances and battle with their giant mechs.” This includes China, U.K. and Germany.

Fighting in the games will see the Flower Division fight three on three across three rounds. Players will select two teammates to join them in the battle and by fighting, teams earn points.

Each time you earn points, it goes towards your total. Working like a tug-of-war, the points go back and forth until one team can earn enough to completely overpower the gauge.

Sakura Wars launches for PS4 on April 28, 2020.
