Gears 5 download size is 57GB

Even though The Coalition’s Gears 5 isn’t out for another week, we now know how big the download is going to be. Thanks to a post on ResetEra we know that Gears 5 is going to require 57GB of space on your Xbox One. Considering that Gears of War was over 100GB it’s great to see that the Gears 5 download size is half that.

Gears 5 is the first in the series to drop the ‘of War‘ part of the name and stars Kait Diaz who appeared in Gears of War 4, but was not the playable character.

JD Fenix and his dad, Marcus, will also appear in Gears 5 however the story is promising to be a personal one for Kait.

According to Microsoft;

Kait was born and raised beyond the COG’s formal jurisdiction. Her mother, Reyna, was the leader of her isolated Outsider village. Yet Kait also has deep family ties to the COG: her late father was a widely admired lieutenant colonel during the Pendulum Wars and her uncle, Oscar, was a highly decorated frontline Gear in the early years of the Locust War. Even after her induction into the COG, her true loyalties are unknown, even to her.

To celebrate the launch of Gears 5, Microsoft is hosting Gears Ink events around the world. One of these events will be taking place in Melbourne on September 5, 2019 and will include Troy & Adam Slack, Men’s Biz barbers, drinks, food and more.

At the event, attendees will have the chance to go hands-on with Gears 5 ahead of launch, including Horde, Versus, Escape and Campaign modes.

Gears 5 launches on September 6, 2019 and, thankfully, will only take up 57GB.
