Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion adds new story, monsters and more

Capcom has revealed that the Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year. It’s also been confirmed that Iceborne will include a new storyline, new monsters, new gameplay options and the biggest area in the game so far.

The Monster Hunter World Iceborne even rivals the original release in terms of content as players will have a massive new world to explore.

Set right after the events of Monster Hunter World, Iceborne sees players travelling to a brand-new, frozen locale. This new area is home to plenty of new and returning mosnters as well as the new Master difficulty.

The major new challenge in Iceborne is the new Velkhana monster. This is Iceborne’s flagship monster and will certainly prove a challenge for any hunter.

According to Capcom, Valkhana is an elder dragon that uses ice attacks and is a major threat throughout the new story.

Other additions to Iceborne include new Slinger tool options such as a grapple move and flinch shot. Players will also be able to use the Slinger while the main weapon is drawn, opening up new gameplay and combat strategies.

Players will need to own a copy of Monster Hunter World in order to play Iceborne and will need to have finished the main story as well as reached Hunter Rank 16.

Additional information about the expansion will be revealed at E3 this year. Monster Hunter World is available now. The expansion launches on September 6, 2019.
