Data mining uncovers potential Fallout 76 loot boxes on the way

Data mining of Fallout 76 v 1.0.3.10 by sleuths on Reddit has uncovered some potentially controversial information. It appears that Bethesda is preparing to add loot boxes to Fallout 76.

Dubbed ‘Lunch Boxes,’ as they’re also known in Fallout Shelter, these Fallout 76 loot boxes will grant players some pretty impressive buffs. These include;

  • XP Bonuses
  • Carrying Capacity
  • Rad Resistances
  • Damage Buffs and more

From the information discovered in the data mine, these Fallout 76 loot boxes appear to be tied to the upcoming holiday event. However, no one is certain of their implementation or duration in the game.

Fallout 76 Loot Boxes

In the wake of the ongoing controversy surrounding Fallout 76, Bethesda and its community managers have promised to be more transparent and open with players. The discovery of potential loot boxes goes counter to that narrative though as their existence has been unknown until now.

Fallout 76 players have also discovered that the cost of items in the Atom Shop have been increasing with Bethesda commenting on Reddit that the community concerns will get to the right people.

Fans are concerned that the inclusion of lunch boxes in Fallout 76 will change the game into a pay-to-win experience, especially if lunch boxes that grant XP boosts and the like are purchasable from the Atom Shop for real-world money.

For now, it’s all speculation, but it certainly looks as though loot boxes are on their way.
