Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018 begins tomorrow

The words ‘Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018′ don’t ring true for an Aussie like me.

With a scorching sun, barbecue season and the ever-looming threat of bushfires, Christmas is often spent complaining about the heat and applying expired Aloe Vera gel to your sunburn.

Blizzard has given a reason for Winter Wonderland to mean something to everyone, regardless of where they are from. Overwatch’s seasonal skins, sprays and map decorations are coming back.

Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018

Set for release on December 12 and carrying through into 2019 to end on the January 3, it looks like Blizzard World is getting a festive makeover.

With only a few skins being teased so far, the quality of those legendary seasonal treats is looking top notch as we have come to expect.

With Snowboarder Zarya being one of my personal favourites so far, the Russian deadlifting superstar often has often missed out on quality skins but the last few have been bang on so far.

Big thumbs up from me.

The other revealed skins are;

  • Arctic Fox Lucio
  • Sugar Plum Fairy Mercy
  • Gift Wrapped Bastion
  • Krampus Junkrat
  • Biathlon Widowmaker

Arctic Fox Lucio is portrayed as an ice skater or skiing champion. The outfit looks sleek and clean but something about it isn’t grabbing me.

Perhaps we need to see him cutting loose with some wall-riding antics to really appreciate the new Arctic Fox look that Lucio is sporting this year.

As always, there’s one character who steals the show and no one is surprised that it is Mercy. Although Junkrat is putting up a good fight.

Mercy is arguably the character with the best collection of skins in the game and the Sugar Plum Fairy look is really in this year. A little bit witchy, a little bit festive and a whole lot of cute.

I look forward to seeing this one get cosplayed at conventions around the world next year. You can check out videos of the revealed skins below.

That’s all we have for now besides some boring stuff like PTR notes like damage drop off adjustments and projectile speeds and that.

But you can catch all the reveals and announcements on the official Blizzard ANZ Twitter, as well as following Power Up! on Twitter for daily updates on coming content and reviews.

Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018 kicks off tomorrow, December 12.
