The finalists for the inaugural Australian Games Awards have been announced today. From over 5,500 nominations, across 10-days, the finalists have been reduced to 282. These 282 individuals will compete across 30 categories.
Some nominees appear multiple times and across multiple categories and overall, the nomination process has shown that there is a demand for these kinds of awards in Australia.
Joel Van Daal, Director of the Australian Games Awards said, “We were utterly blown away with the response to the call for nominations and are excited to see the scale of the voting period.”

PowerUp! has been nominated in two categories;
- Best Gaming Publication
- Best Journalist – Leo Stevenson
With voting now open, the Australian Games community will decide the ultimate winners. Voting closes Midnight, Friday, December 7, 2018.
Those wishing to attend the event are able to purchase tickets from the official website.
The event is shaping up to be an incredible one and Director Joel Van Daal said;
We are just over three weeks away from the event, which is shaping up to be the biggest celebration of video game culture in Australian history, and we can’t wait to celebrate it with the community
