Fallout 76 – How to Get Rid of Rads

In Fallout 76 you often find that your character has been irradiated extensively. This means your health bar is smaller and you might even be suffering from a mutation. Rads are the bane of every Fallout 76 player, especially since Radaway seems to be so scarce.

So in Fallout 76 how to get rid of Rads is actually pretty simple, though it does require some exploration. What’s better is that you don’t need to craft any items, you don’t need to find Radaway and you don’t need to worry about the number of Rads you’ve taken.

It all starts with a trip to the Poseidon Energy Plant.

Located south-west of Flatwoods and north-west of AVR Medical Centre and Charleston, the Poseidon Energy Plant is the site of the Poseidon Energy Plant Yard workshop and the Event; Powering Up Poseidon.

The Powering Up Poseidon Event requires you to repair broken parts of the plant and when complete provides enough power to run the Fusion Core extractor located outside.

It’s what’s inside that is most exciting though, especially if you’re trying to get rid of Rads. It’s a bit of a rat’s nest inside and does take some time to fully explore and know your way around, but once you do, worrying about Rads becomes much less of an issue.

In the video below I show you the path to take inside the Power Plant if you enter through the cooling tower, however, there are multiple paths to take, which you’ll find once you explore.

Once you’re inside the Power Plant, you’ll need to head for the security office which is located on the upper levels and central to the other sections of the plant. If you enter from the cooling tower, head left then left again and up the ramp.

When you see a room ahead, enter and turn right. You should see a sign reading “Security” above the door in front of you. Head through the door and follow it down. You should be in a room with idle Protectrons and two terminals; one stand alone and one set into a machine.

The first terminal, the standalone one, is directly in front as you enter the room. Use this terminal and navigate to the third option; Decontamination Arch Control. Activate it.

Once activated, you’ll want to go through the door behind you and to your right, directly beside the Protectrons. Turn right, then right again and you’ll see the Decontamination Arches in front of you. Simply stand under the spray and you’ll watch as your Rads all disappear.

You can fast travel to this location and there’s a level 3 Hacker door right next to the Fusion Core processor that will get you to the Decontamination Arch even faster. Return as often as you like and get rid of those pesky Rads, even if you don’t have Radaway.
