Yakuza Kiwami 2 demo now available

Hot on the heels of Yakuza 6, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is set for release next month. In the interests of getting fans pumped and ready to go, SEGA has released the Yakuza Kiwami 2 demo on the PlayStation Store.

As a result, players can get their Yakuza on before the official release on August 28.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is, of course, a recrafted, localised version of the original Yakuza 2, a Japan-only title that was released in 2006.

If you’ve played any of the games in the series, you’ll know what you’re in for, but if not, know that the Yakuza games are a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. The core story is a melodramatic epic that needs to be seen to be believed, and the side quests will have you in tears of laughter and confusion in equal measure.

For Yakuza Kiwami 2, the original game has been completely remade on the newer Dragon Engine, the same as the one used in Yakuza 6. This means a more seamless experience and meant that the team needed to re-record many voice lines to benefit from the new engine.

Mini-games will of course return, with favourites such as Virtual-On arcades, Cabaret and new additions including Golf Bingo and SEGA’s Toylets which includes interactive urinals!

Series favourite Goro Majima returns as a playable character, and the Clan Creator returns from Yakuza 6.

To get started on Yakuza Kiwami 2 and try to set some high scores in the mini-games, download the Yakuza Kiwami 2 demo today from the PlayStation Store.

Keep in mind that pre-orders and first-run copies of the game will ship with an elaborate SteelBook case, see the image above.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be available exclusively for PS4 on August 28, 2018.
