Shadow of the Tomb Raider pre-order available, Season Pass price revealed

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was officially unveiled only a few days ago and although details are scarce, some info on the purchase price has been revealed. Shadow of the Tomb Raider pre-order is now available and the price of the Season Pass has been revealed.

The Shadow of the Tomb Raider Season Pass includes seven additional pieces of content over seven releases. Some of the content in the Season Pass will be available to purchase separately, but at least one of the content drops is exclusive to the Season Pass.

With Shadow of the Tomb Raider pre-order now available, you might be wondering which edition to buy and how much you’ll need to spend.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Pre-Order

There are three digital editions of Shadow of the Tomb Raider available to pre-order. They are available on the PlayStation Store, Steam and Xbox Live and are;

  • Standard Edition
  • Digital Deluxe Edition
  • Croft Edition

Each of the editions includes a digital copy of the game and pre-ordering will give players special items on each platform. Pre-orders of the Digital Deluxe Edition include;

  • 48H early access
  • PS4 Theme/Xbox Live Avatar outfit/Steam Exclusive Wallpaper
  • Additional Skills Booster Pack
  • Additional weapon/outfit
  • Digital OST

The only extra that players get with the Croft Edition is the Season Pass and three additional weapons/outfits instead of one.

Season Pass or not?

As mentioned previously, the Season Pass includes seven pieces of content. These additions are being called ‘Paths’ and will include a “new narrative, new missions, a Challenge Tomb, a new weapon, a new outfit and a new skill.”

It has also been announced that the first ‘Path’ will introduce co-op to Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

There will be one new ‘Path’ released every month after release for seven months.

The cost of the Season Pass is $29.99 USD and $44.95 AUD. If you buy the Croft Edition you’ll save 1 cent USD and 45 cents AUD compared to buying the Season Pass separately, which is essentially nothing.

So, if you intend on buying the Season Pass, you might want to wait until you’ve played the game first. If you buy a Season Pass upfront, you’ve already spent the money and even if you don’t like the game much, or intend on playing it more, you own the content.

If you wait until you’re certain you want more content, you’re getting better value for your money.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available on September 14, 2018.
