Report – Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will include a Battle Royale mode instead of Single Player

Reports today are claiming that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 won’t have a single player campaign mode. Instead, there will be a Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode.

According to anonymous sources who spoke to Polygon and CharlieIntel have both claimed that instead of the usual single-player campaign, the Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode will accompany the usual multiplayer and zombie modes.

It’s no surprise that Call of Duty is introducing a Battle Royale mode given the popularity and success of both PUBG and Fortnite.

Black Ops 4 Battle Royale

Polygon’s anonymous sources claim that as development on Black Ops 4 progressed and the release date drew near, it became clear that there wasn’t enough time to complete a single-player campaign.

Instead, Treyarch shifted focus to expand the mainstays of multiplayer and zombies. CharlieIntel’s sources claim that Raven Software has been tasked with working on the Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode while Treyarch focuses on the other modes.

Polygon’s source doesn’t name a Battle Royale mode but does mention that there has been a focus on co-operative modes to fill the gap. While a Battle Royal mode would feature competitive play, it would likely include a team or squad mode just like other Battle Royale games.

We won’t know more until Activision fully reveals Black Ops 4 on May 17. Though, it does seem likely that a Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode will appear in Call of Duty this year.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be released on October 12, 2018.
