Hitman Definitive Edition launching this May, published by Warner Bros

IO Interactive has announced the Hitman Definitive Edition. The Hitman Definitive Edition will be exclusive to retail and will be published and distributed by Warner Bros.

IO Interactive split with Square Enix after the latter divested itself. It managed to carry out a management buy out to become an independent company. As an independent, IO retained all rights to the Hitman IP and has now announced this new edition.

The announcement of Hitman Definitive Edition coincides with the 20th anniversary of IO Interactive and a total of 12 million players for the latest instalment of Hitman.

Hitman Definitive Edition

The partnership with Warner Bros will see Hitman Definitive Edition released physically on May 15 for PS4 and Xbox One. No mention of a digital release or a release for PC were included in the announcement.

Hitman Definitive Edition includes all episodes and locations from Season One and all Game of the Year Edition content. That’s not all though. IO has also announced that the definitive edition will include the Anniversary Outfit Bundle.

Included in the bundle are three outfits relating to IO’s other much-loved properties; Freedom Fighters, Kane & Lynch and Mini Ninjas.

The Freedom Phantom Suit is inspired by Christopher Stone from Freedom Fighters.
Get ready to take command and fight for freedom in a suit that is equal parts charismatic and rebellious.

The Lynch Suit is inspired by everybody’s favourite criminal; Lynch.
It’s the perfect suit for an impulsive, reckless and self-medicated psychopath.

The Futo Suit is inspired by Futo from Mini Ninjas.
As you know, Ninjas always operate alone but they don’t always fight using a hammer. Futo does.

Hitman, back in action

While Warner Bros is publishing the definitive edition, the future of Hitman and the publisher beyond that is uncertain. Even the press release found on Business Wire is vague and only really relates to Hitman Definitive Edition.

What, if any, involvement Warner Bros has beyond this release is not known. IO Interactive will need a publishing partner and if the definitive edition sells well enough, it may be a mutually beneficial arrangement.

When it launches in May, the Hitman Definitive Editoin will include;

Anniversary Outfit Bundle – Three new outfits inspired by IOI games; Freedom Fighters, Kane & Lynch and Mini Ninjas

HITMAN Season One – Seven exotic locations from the first season, including Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado and Hokkaido, along with the ICA Facility

HITMAN Game of the Year Edition Content – Four missions from the Patient Zero Campaign, three themed Escalation Contracts that unlock three unique weapons, as well as the Clown Suit, Cowboy Suit and Raven Suit

HITMAN Bonus Episode – Featuring 3 Bonus Missions in Sapienza and Marrakesh

HITMAN: Blood Money Requiem Pack – Including the Requiem Suit, Pale Duck Explosive and ICA Chrome Pistol

All Featured Contracts, Escalation Contracts, Challenge Packs and game updates from HITMAN Season One and HITMAN Game of the Year Edition

Hitman Definitive Edition launches May 15 for PS4 and Xbox One, exclusively at retail. The Anniversary Outfit Bundle will be available digitally at a later date.
