Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion release date revealed on eShop

During the March Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion. The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion release date has been revealed on the Switch eShop.

Coming out in mid-2018, the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion stars Agent 8, an Octoling with no memory. Lost in an underground subway, Agent 8 must complete challenges in order to regain her memory and escape.

The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion is the first paid DLC for Splatoon 2 and will cost $30 AUD. The expansion includes 80 missions and new story content that will reveal greater details on Splatoon’s favourite characters.

All players who complete the Octo Expansion will unlock the ability to play as Octolings in multiplayer. The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop now and can be pre-purchased ahead of release.

The Nintendo Direct did not reveal the actual Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion release date, but it does appear on the Switch eShop. The release date is set for July 31, 2018 which lines up with Nintendo’s advice that it will be released in Winter 2018 in the southern hemisphere.

The release date may be a placeholder, but if that was the case, it would likely read TBA as other titles on the eShop do.

To use the Octo Expansion you’ll need to own a copy of Splatoon 2. Anyone who pre-purchases the Octo Expansion will immediately access to a bunch of Octo themed gear to use in battle.

Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion will be available from July 31, 2018.
