Australians have spent more than one billion hours on their PS4s in the past 12-months

PlayStation Australia announced today that Australians have spent more than one billion hours on their PS4s in the past 12-months. This figure is a 26% increase in usage over the previous 12-months.

The one billion hours (which equals 100,000 years) was spent on games, TV, music and video. In Australia, 67% of people play video games and 3.7 million subscribe to a streaming service. Consumption of music, TV and video on PS4 increased 45% in the past 12-months. PlayStation owners have access to Spotify, Stan, Netflix, PlayStation Store videos, Foxtel Now and more.

This is the first time the one billion hour milestone has been crossed in Australia. Patrick Lagana, Director of Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia said, “PlayStation has been the country’s highest-selling console for the last four years and to reach one billion hours of play across gaming and entertainment demonstrates that PlayStation is the leading entertainment platform and continues to be Australia’s favourite place to play.”

In the past 12-months the PS4 has seen multiple exclusive titles released including Horizon: Zero Dawn, GT: Sport and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
