There have already been some hefty rumours coming out today, but we have even more. These ones are all Nintendo-flavoured and we’re hoping they’re true. They’re too good not to be.
Reddit user DasVergeben, the same person who leaked the characters in Injustice 2’s “Fighter Pack 3” a week early, has dropped a tonne of Nintendo Switch rumours. Specifically for Nintendo Switch games in 2018. Some of the games are already known to be in development, but others are a huge surprise.
Allegedly, GameFreak is under pressure from Nintendo to have Pokémon ready for a release in 2018. The 8th Generation of Pokémon is due out next year and we know that a Pokémon title is coming to Nintendo Switch. Let’s hope we see it before the end of 2018.
Metroid Prime 4 and more
According to DasVergeben’s sources, Metroid Prime 4 is in development at Bandai Namco and will have footage shown early next year. The gameplay footage reveal is rumoured to take place during a January Nintendo Direct. It’s a bit strange that Nintendo would entrust development to Bandai Namco and not Retro Studios. This is all just conjecture at this stage until it’s formally announced.
Other Nintendo Switch Games in 2018 include a new Animal Crossing and Mother 3. No details on Animal Crossing were included in DasVergeben’s rumours, though we all know what to expect right?
On Mother 3 DasVergeben writes, “According to my source, it was completely localized and playable. The sad thing that I’ve heard is that it is being held back for some reason, which all I know has something to do with not knowing which month to release it in.”
Virtual Console and 3rd Party
Sources also claim that the Switch will have a Virtual Console but it will be unlike what we’eve seen before. It sounds more like the Xbox Game Pass, where players will subscribe and have access to a Netflix-style service.
Finally, two big 3rd party games mentioned in the rumours are HearthStone and The World Ends With You 2. The former is being developed by Blizzard and was mentioned by sources to DasVergeben at BlizzCon. The World Ends With You 2 will be exclusive to Switch and is in development at Square Enix.
There you have it. Big games, big rumours and big news if true.
The Nintendo Switch games in 2018 are starting to look pretty incredible. Let’s hope it’s all true.
