Details emerge on AFL Evolution

Information regarding AFL Evolution has been limited since being announced.

The box art has recently been put on shelves in EB Games and some details have emerged. As a footy fan and someone who has longed for decent AFL game I’m a little excited. In saying that the box art does boast some interesting claims, such as:

Built from the ground up, AFL Evolution offers the ultimate footage game play experience. Now bigger and better than any other footy game before.

I feel like that wouldn’t be too hard to achieve. As far as I’m concerned the only good AFL game was Aussie Rules Footy on the NES.

Some of the information revealed sounds as though AFL Evolution will include a full career mode like NBA 2K and the coach mode has heaps of potential. Will we be able to make dodgy decisions regarding doping programs? Who knows…

Empower yourself with career mode by playing as a Rookie, Listed Player or Coach. Choose an existing player or create your own to elbow your way up through the ranks. Start with Under 18s, then VFL and finally the NAB AFL Draft.

This could be really fun if done well. The coach system could mirror the Football Manager sports sim, or it could be more of a basic team management function. Either way, having so many options is a boon.

Hopefully the developer has learnt from other sports titles and will avoid some of the typical mistakes. Either way we will just have to keep waiting to hear more this year.

AFL Evolution is in development by Melbourne based Wicked Witch Software and is due for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2017.
