KTC M27P6 27-inch 4K Mini-LED Review: Performance and Value That’s Hard to Beat

Over the past year, most of the buzz in the monitor world has centered around 27-inch 4K OLED displays. However, KTC is upending that trend with the M27P6—a Mini-LED offering that delivers higher brightness, versatile dual-mode operation, freedom from burn-in concerns, and a price tag that’s significantly lower than OLED competitors. For context, the cheapest 27-inch 4K OLED monitors typically retail for $1,349 AUD or more, while the M27P6 can be imported for around $950–$1,000 AUD. After thoroughly testing this monitor and referencing its official specs, it’s clear the M27P6 is a compelling choice for gamers, creators, and anyone seeking a premium display experience without the flagship price tag.

Design and Build Quality

The M27P6 makes a striking first impression with its white chassis, a rarity that stands out in a sea of black and gray monitors. The build quality feels robust, with a solid, heavy stand that’s easy to adjust. The stand has a two tone white matte and carbon fiber finish that looks gorgeous. Ergonomics are excellent: you get tilt (-5° to 20°), 90° rotation for portrait mode, height adjustment, and VESA compatibility for mounting flexibility.

The matte finish on the display keeps reflections at bay, and the slim bezels maximize screen space, giving it a modern, nearly borderless look. On the back is a single RGB lit KTC logo which looks very cool but ultimately is pointless if you set your monitor is up against a wall like most of us do. This monitor looks right at home in a premium, white-themed setup, and the overall design feels as thoughtful as anything from the big brands.

Display: Mini-LED Brilliance with Quantum Dot Color

The M27P6’s 27-inch flat Fast IPS panel, illuminated by advanced Mini-LED backlighting with 1,152 local dimming zones, delivers precise control of brightness and contrast for deep blacks, minimal light bleed, and vivid highlights. With coverage of 99.5% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3, plus Quantum Dot technology, the monitor offers vibrant, accurate color reproduction that’s ideal for both gaming and creative work.

Its wide color gamut and high peak brightness make it especially well-suited for photo and video editing, while the panel’s exceptional uniformity ensures consistent visuals with minimal backlight bleed and virtually no dead pixel issues. Combined with high refresh rates and low latency, the M27P6 provides a top-tier experience for gaming. With an anti-glare coating, 3H hardness for scratch resistance, and 25% haze for balanced clarity, the M27P6 excels in a variety of lighting conditions, whether you’re working or gaming.

Performance: Dual Modes for Every Scenario

What truly sets this monitor apart is its dual-mode capability. You can enjoy ultra-sharp 4K at 160Hz, perfect for visually rich titles and immersive single-player experiences. For competitive gaming, drop to 1080p and unlock a blazing 320Hz refresh rate, paired with a 1ms response time for ultra-smooth, lag-free visuals. FreeSync support ensures adaptive sync for tear-free gaming, and the monitor’s performance in fast-paced titles like Doom: The Dark Ages is exceptional—every frame is crisp, motion blur is minimal, and input lag is virtually nonexistent.

In CyberPunk 2077, the M27P6’s HDR1400 certification comes to life. Neon-lit streets explode with color, sunlight and explosions dazzle with realistic intensity, and the deep blacks of night scenes are impressively close to OLED. The blooming effect—common to Mini-LED tech—is present but remarkably well controlled, even in high-contrast scenes. The dirty screen effect (DSE) can appear during panning across solid backgrounds, but in real-world use, it’s subtle and rarely distracting.

Games look phenomenal, especially with HDR content delivering punchy highlights and deep shadows. Fast-paced titles benefit from the impressive refresh rates, and creative tasks shine thanks to the monitor’s color accuracy and brightness. The dirty screen effect and blooming are present but minor, and most users will find these easily outweighed by the monitor’s strengths.

While OLED still wins for absolute black levels and infinite contrast, Mini-LED comes very close and has some distinct advantages: no risk of burn-in, higher peak brightness, and better suitability for static content like HUDs, toolbars, or productivity apps. The M27P6’s Mini-LED implementation is among the best in its class, delivering a near-OLED experience without the longevity concerns. For users who keep their monitor on for hours or use it for both gaming and work, this is a practical, durable choice.

Connectivity: Versatile and Future-Proof

KTC has packed the M27P6 with a generous selection of ports: two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, a Type-C port supporting PD 3.1 up to 65W (powering and displaying from a laptop or tablet), three USB 3.0 ports (upstream and downstream), and a headphone jack. This makes it easy to connect gaming consoles, PCs, and work devices simultaneously. The USB-C port is especially handy for laptop users like me, allowing a single-cable setup for display, charging, and peripherals.

A built-in KVM switch lets you control two devices with a single keyboard and mouse, seamlessly toggling between, for example, my desktop gaming rig and my work MacBook Pro. This is a huge plus for productivity and multi-device setups.

The on-screen display (OSD) is clear and intuitive, though it took me a minute to figure out that you don’t press the joystick to activate options but rather just press right. There are extensive customisation options for colour profiles, local dimming, gaming overlays, and more. Also, the dual mode is hidden behind about three levels of the menu which is tedious compared to just having a dedicated button like LG UltraGear GX9.

Final Thoughts

The KTC M27P6 is a standout Mini-LED monitor that brings flagship-grade performance, robust connectivity, and thoughtful design to a much more accessible price point. Its combination of Dual mode, stunning HDR1400 brightness, wide color gamut, USB-C with power delivery, and built-in KVM switch make it an incredibly versatile choice for gamers, creators, and professionals alike.

The biggest downside is that the M27P6 isn’t officially sold in Australia so if you want it, you’ll need to import it via Amazon US. Even then, it will still cost you less than a locally sourced 27-inch 4K OLED from major brands, which can cost hundreds more and may not offer the same features.

While Mini-LED still has some limitations—namely minor blooming and dirty screen effect—the M27P6 handles these better than I’ve seen so far, and its overall value is hard to beat. KTC’s move to deliver this level of technology before the industry giants is refreshing and sets a new standard for what’s possible in the mid-range segment.

For anyone in Australia (or elsewhere) looking for a premium, future-proof monitor without the premium price, the M27P6 is easy to recommend.
