Everything we know about Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar stayed true to its word and released our first look at Red Dead Redemption 2 last night. In the trailer (above) we finally get to go back to the old west, or at least Rockstar’s version of it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive on both PS4 and Xbox One in Spring 2017 and will serve as a prequel to the first title. The trailer suggests that players will follow John Marston and his gang in the earlier days of the wild west. It also looks as though towns and outposts will be less frequent and less densely populated. There will be trains, but being an earlier version of the west, it can be assumed the network won’t be as well constructed or wide spread.

According to Rockstar, RDR2 is “(a)n epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.” This confirms our theory that multiplayer wil play a significant role in the title. It also suggests that each of the seven characters shown will be playable in some form or another. GameSpot reports that Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar’s parent company) has already registered Red Dead Online domains which strongly points to an online component like GTA Online.

PlayStation has announced that it and Rockstar have entered into a partnership for RDR2. The title has been “(h)and crafted to take full advantage of PS4,” wrote Josh Walker on the PlayStation Blog who also revealed that RDR2 would have first access to online content. This means that PS4 players will get certain content before those on Xbox One.

We’ll let you know anything more we learn, as we learn it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in Spring 2017 (Fall/Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere).
