Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1 “Newfound Adventure” Is Dropping Next Week

Once more into the fray, Warriors of Light! Over the weekend Square Enix unveiled a brand new trailer and official release date for the upcoming Patch 6.1 for Final Fantasy XIV. The new slate of content is launching on April 12th and is titled Newfound Adventure, a relatively fresh start in the wake of the game’s most recent expansion Endwalker. Producer, Director and all-around good dude Naoki Yoshida took the announcement to show off some new gameplay, quests and a whole host of tie-in content including soundtracks and art books for the increasingly popular MMORPG hybrid.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1 Releasing April 12th

Newfound Adventure is adding a pretty heft amount of new things to do and see to the game next week. We’re of course beginning the next chapter in the story of the Warrior of Light as new Main Scenario quests kick off with the patch, with other questlines coming down the line in future Patch 6.1x Series updates.

Elsewhere, Myths of the Realm: Aglaia is a new 24-player Alliance Raid in which players can learn about the mysterious Twelve, alongside a new Trial, The Minstrel’s Ballad: Endsinger’s Aria. Patch 6.1 is also introducing some PVP tweaks to make the experience more strategic as well as a few other odds and ends you can read about here in the patch notes.

The Patch 6.1x Series looks to be something of a fresh start for the realm and your Warrior of Light, the end of days dramatics of Endwalker behind you as a new call to adventure begins. It makes sense then that these patches will also be including some fun touches, like an Ishgardian residential district and a Beta version of Adventure Plates, essentially extravagant driver’s licenses that you can customise to your heart’s content.

Outside of the game, players can look forward to the next Final Fantasy XIV art book, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker – The Art of Resurrection – Among the Stars. The new book is slated for release on September 13th 2022 but you can pre-order it right now. The game’s official art books are gorgeous things, full-colour explorations of the art direction and design for each of the expansions and a worthy addition to your shelf. I got like four of them for Christmas last year and nearly cried.
