Fortnite Raises $36 Million USD In First 24 Hours Of Ukraine Charity Drive

As we reported earlier this week, Epic Games has made a commitment to donate all proceeds generated by Fortnite to help humanitarian efforts on the ground in Ukraine as the country endures a Russian invasion.

Epic Games have now revealed that after just 24 hours, the effort has raised $36 million USD which will soon start making its way to several organisations including Direct Relief, Unicef, the United Nations World Food Programme and The UN Refugee Agency

Epic Games Raises $36 Million In Ukraine Support Fund Over 24 Hours

As you can see from the above post from the official Fortnite Twitter account, the humanitarian relief effort has now passed the $50 million USD mark and has no signs of slowing down. The push will last until April 3rd and has the support of Microsoft as all Fortnite purchases made on the Xbox platform will also be donated to the fund pool. This means any money generated from cosmetic purchases, gift cards, V-Bucks, subscriptions and the new Battle Pass will go directly to Ukrainian relief efforts.

The push has launched in conjunction with Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3, Resistance. The latest season has seen building removed from the base game experience, a drastic shift to the pacing and feel of matches that we’re still trying to wrap our heads around. Alongside the mechanical changes, the latest season sees Marvel’s Doctor Strange arrive on the island along with a colourful gang who are set to go to war over the ability to build. It’s a weird game.

Keep an eye on PowerUp! as we will have our impressions of the new season and Battle Pass ready for you soon.
