Private Division Signs Four New Developers

Private Division, the publisher behind games such as Hades and The Outer Worlds, is expanding and has brought four new developers in-house for its future slate of games. Earlier this week publisher agreements were signed between Private Division and some of the independent game scenes leading creative minds including Die Gute Fabrik, Evening Star, Piccolo Studio and Yellow Brick Games.

These newly signed developers join Private Division’s already impressive publishing deals with massive developers such as Obsidian and Moon Studios.

Private Division Signs New Developers

For those unfamiliar with the label, Private Division is a developer-focused publisher that highlights unique games in both the independent and AAA spheres, publishing titles under Take-Two Interactive Software. Based out of offices across the globe in New York, Singapore, Munchin and Seattle, Private Division has staked a claim as one of the most interesting publishers working in the industry today.

“At Private Division we champion the best creative talent in the games industry, and these four teams and the experiences that they are building represent an array of genres that will appeal to many different gaming audiences,” said Michael Worosz, Executive Vice President and Head of Private Division via press release. “Die Gute Fabrik, Evening Star, Piccolo Studio, and Yellow Brick Games each have their own wildly diverse creative visions, and we’re thrilled to help introduce their games to the world.”

Die Gute Fabrik is a Copenhagen based company founded in 2008 and now helmed by CEO and Creative Director Hannah Nicklin. The team has a primary focus on narrative game experiences and is currently working on an unannounced project that is said to be drawing inspiration from a wide variety of disciplines and history. Elsewhere, Spain’s Piccolo Studio came about after three friends left a successful advertising gig to form the studio in 2015. Since then, the team has created the critically acclaimed Arise: A Simple Story and are looking forward to crafting a unique new IP with Private Division.

Evening Star, with developers working out of Los Angeles, London and our very own Melbourne, is working on a new 3D platformer using its proprietary Star Engine. Utilising previous experience with SEGA on Sonic Mania Plus, Evening Star is looking to best utilise its team’s diverse backgrounds to bring something fresh to the genre. Finally, the freshest face of the bunch, Yellow Brick Games is bringing years of AAA talent to bear in an ambitious action RPG.

“I find myself energised by the challenge of helping build a new studio—full of incredible talent, ambitious ideas, and real focus on our product—while taking risks that might not be possible in AAA game development,” said Mike Laidlaw, Chief Creative Officer at Yellow Brick Games. “We want to deliver something special for our debut title, and partnering with Private Division provides our team with the support to create a game that’s truly memorable.”

We’ll have more information on these upcoming games as its announced.
