How To Play Co-Op In Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is finally here and while Jack’s quest to kill Chaos may seem like one man’s journey, the game actually features a solid co-op mode. You and up to two friends can all jump into this strange reimagining of the first-ever Final Fantasy title, only this time as an action-focused, loot-based romp.

The game is rather obtuse in its narrative design work and that same thing can be said for how it handles its multiplayer options. Once you’re in, you’re going to love it but the initial set-up fits right alongside the clunky systems of Nintendo and FromSoftware.

How To Play Co-Op in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Once you’ve gotten through the game’s prologue and tutorial missions you’ll find yourself on the overworld map, ready to tackle the Chaos Shrine. From here you can tab across the Main Menu in the top left of the screen and find the Online tab which houses the ability to either create an online room or search for one if you know somebody has one ready to go.

Once you’ve settled on making a room you’ll find the screen above waiting for you. Here you can create a room to tackle a specific mission if you need help with it or just want to show off some stuff to your mates. Under Playstyle, you can choose between Bronze (casual difficulty), Mythril (standard) and Adamantit (hardcore). You’ll also be invited to set a password for the room if you want to keep the circle tight – just pick five numbers and let the right people know.

Finally, once you’re in your created room, you’ll need to share the room ID with your mates so they can find you. In the top left corner of the screen, you can find this number and send the lengthy thing to the appropriate people. Just be sure to give them the password too and you’re good to roll!

As we said in our review of the game, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin‘s multiplayer is as friendly and approachable as its broader systems. It allows you to experience the story with a friend while not missing out on the core combat and loot systems that make the game such a joy to play.
