How NBA 2K21 MyTeam will transition to next-gen consoles

With NBA 2K21 launching on both current and next-gen consoles, Visual Concepts and 2K have announced that players will be able to carry their MyTeam progress over when upgrading. Players will be able to transition their entire collection and progress from one console to another, as long as it’s within the same console family.

That means, players who start playing NBA 2K21 on PS4 will be able to carry everything over to PS5 and Xbox One players can carry over to Xbox Series X. Visual Concepts has also revealed that players will be able to switch between current and next-gen and back again at will.

The best part, players won’t need to do anything. Progress and players’ collections will automatically be made available regardless of your platform. Again, provided you’re within the same console family.

NBA 2K21 MyTeam Next-Gen Upgrade

In the NBA 2K21 MyTeam Courtside Report written by Executive Producer at Visual Concepts Erick Boenisch, the following was announced;

On September 4, I am excited to confirm that your entire collection AND progress will carry over once you start playing the next-generation version of the game. You will have access to all of your pulled and earned cards (and any evolution progress associated with them), your progress in Domination, Triple Threat, etc., and your entire balance of VC, MyTEAM Points, and Tokens. It’s all there!

Anybody who purchases the current-gen Mamba Forever Edition of NBA 2K21 will receive a free copy of the Standard Edition on the matching next-gen console. Visual Concepts says this lets players “start playing MyTEAM ‘early’ this year without the worry of losing any progress/time spent.”

NBA 2K21 launches on September 4, 2020.

I've been playing games for the past 27 years and have been writing for almost as long. Combining two passions in the way I'm able is a true privilege. PowerUp! is a labour of love and one I am so excited to share.
