Pokémon GO and No Man’s Sky contribute to billions in digital sales

Pokémon GO and No Man’s Sky have very little (if anything) in common. That hasn’t stopped them from making all kinds of money.

How much money? How’s about a total of $7.9 billion AUD across all digital sales and microtransactions in August alone. These figures are global and aren’t just due to those two titles of course, but they were significant contributors.

According to information gathered by SuperData Research, No Man’s Sky was a global second place for digital purchases on consoles and was only beaten by Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It also placed sixth for digital PC purchases, placing its earning around $101 million AUD.

Pokémon GO is largely responsible for growing sales in the mobile market up to a staggering $3.9 billion AUD in August. This figure is 16% higher than in the same period in 2015.

Pokémon GO is available free on Android and iOS. No Man’s Sky is available on PC and PS4.
