Saints Row The Third Remastered launches in May and it has been seriously overhauled

Are you ready to go back to Steelport? Deep Silver sure hopes so because Saints Row The Third Remastered is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One this May. Originally developed by Volition and being remastered by Sperasoft, Saints Row The Third Remastered has been given a significant overhaul.

In addition to the vast number of upgrades to the visuals, Saints Row The Third Remastered will include all of the originally released DLC. It will also be playable in 2-player co-op. Those who purchase Saints Row The Third Remastered will get access to the original game and over 30 pieces of DLC.

A huge number of visual upgrades, updates and changes have been made to Saints Row The Third Remastered to make it look as current and up-to-date as possible. The changes to lighting and the addition of Physical Based Rendering (PBR) have had the biggest impact on Saints Row The Third Remastered.

According to Deep Silver, “Lighting, textures, character models and more have been completely reworked.” Nikolay Stoyanov, Lead Art Director, Koch Media said “Saints Row The Third is a masterpiece and we wanted to truly bring that title to life.

“Not just a simple remaster with 4K support but really with modernised graphics and to see how much we can actually enhance the art style through the usage of different modern technologies.”

Frank Marquart, Art Director, Deep Silver Volition said;

It simply makes for a richer experience. The mood, atmosphere and lighting elevates that world and it’s so much more engaging across the board.

In addition to the addition of PBR, Saints Row The Third Remastered has been upgraded to include Global Illumination, enhanced fog with volumetric effects and God-ray lighting effects.

In Saints Row The Third Remastered players will notice that there are many more vehicles and pedestrians on the streets of Steelport. Both the number of vehicles and vehicles parked has been increased. Pedestrians are far more numerous and will appear at higher density as well as providing more interactions with the player.

While a lot of the assets in this remaster have been reworked and upgraded, some things have been remade entirely. Every single story NPC has been remade “from scratch.” These new models were based on the high-quality marketing images of the original game and the original models. A middle ground between the two was found in order to achieve the best results.

Enemies, law enforcement and the player character have been reworked but not remade. The same goes for vehicles, which have been based on the old models and given PBR clear coat shaders.

All 51 weapons in Saints Row The Third Remastered have been remade. Each of the weapon models has a higher polygon count and PBR Materials. Additionally, the Art Direction of the weapons has been adjusted to suit modern gaming conventions. Where possible, the new weapons look similar to the original, however, they have been adjusted to look more realistic.

Motion Blur has been added to the game as well in order to improve flying and driving and give players a better sense of speed. The Motion Blur also makes driving and flying much smoother and helps to highlight some of the visual improvements that have been made.

Saints Row The Third Remastered will launch for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 22, 2020.
