How to unlock the Unmakyr in Doom Eternal

Combat is the core of any DOOM game and DOOM Eternal is no exception. As you progress through the campaign you’ll gradually unlock your full arsenal of DOOM Eternal weapons and become the ultimate Doom Slayer along the way. However, one weapon in DOOM Eternal isn’t unlocked by simply playing the game.

The Unmakyr, a special rapid-fire weapon that shares ammo with the BFG-9000 has to be earned from completing special challenges in six of the missions in the game.

Hidden in these six missions are a Slayer Key and Slayer Gate. By finding the key, you can unlock the gate and attempt a special combat encounter.

DOOM Eternal – Unmakyr

Slayer Keys and Gates are always near each other and finding the key is pretty simple, however, the combat challenges can be really intense. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got plenty of ammo and armour before attempting a Slayer Gate.

Be warned that while using cheat codes doesn’t prevent any other progress in the game, using cheats will block you from being able to access the Slayer Gates.

The six missions that have a Slayer Gate are; Exultia, Cultist Base, Super Gore Nest, Arc Complex, Mars Core and Taras Nabad. With each Empyrean Key you earn from completing the Slayer Gates, you can remove one of six locks from the Unmakyr aboard the Fortress of Doom.

When you unlock all six Empyrean Keys and use them all on the Unmakyr’s lock on the Fortress of Doom, you’ll earn the Unmakyr.

It sits on the same slot as the BFG on the weapon wheel. To access it, select the BFG and press up on the D-Pad.

DOOM Eternal is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
