LG’s 2020 TV line-up brings 14 new models, 8K and Nvidia G-Sync

LG is the undisputed king of OLED TVs and the company’s line up of 14 new models for 2020 looks to firmly establish its dominance. This includes three new GX Gallery series 4K Ultra HD models, two Real 8K models and an all-new 48-inch OLED screen size. “LG’s vision to offer outstanding value to its customers comes to life this year with the company’s new line-up of art-inspired TVs,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company.

“Beyond the unrivalled picture quality that LG’s premium TVs deliver, the new additions also come with the company’s advanced technologies, best in AI-integration and unrivalled, futuristic design made possible by OLED technology.”

All new models

LG OLED GX Gallery Series

The new GX Gallery series push the boundary of TV design with ultra-thin form factor as little as 20 mm thick on the 65-inch model. Three sizes are available 55-, 65- and 77-inches that can be hung flush on a wall like a painting.

The new OLED ZX Real 8K models deliver four times more detail than 4K TV’s and LG claims they exceed the exacting standards of the Consumer Technology Associations definition for 8K TVs. The ZX has two sizes, 88- and 77-inch which surpass the recommended measurement criteria set by the International Committee for Display Metrology.

Lastly, in addition to the standard 77-, 65- and 55-inch OLED TV’s in the CX and BX range, LG is now bringing a smaller 48-inch model. The OLED48CX produces an even sharper picture thanks to its pixel density which LG says is comparable to that of a 96-inch 8K TV. The new model is perfect for PC desktop setups thanks to its small form factor and G-Sync compatibility.

Gamers rejoice

LG OLED48CX is designed for gaming desktops

Big Format Gaming (BFG) is fast becoming a reality but so far attempts like HP’s 65-inch Emporium remain ridiculously expensive. Thankfully LG is giving all its 2020 OLED TV’s variable refresh rate support and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.

This is particularly exciting for PC gamers who need the fastest and smoothest gameplay. With PC’s packing powerful graphics cards like the RTX 2080 Ti, gamers can now enjoy BFG in their living rooms. LG’s TV’s support up to 120 Hz refresh rate which combined with extremely low input lag, make them perfect gaming monitors.

And in an industry first, LG OLED TV’s feature the new HDR Gaming Interest Groups HGiG mode. HGiG is a body made of companies from game and display industries to develop standards to improve the HDR gaming experience.

And lastly, LG’s OLED’s come with new Eye Comfort Display certification thanks to adjustability for blue light content, are flicker-free and have great image quality from any angle.  LG OLED screens meet every TÜV Rheinland testing criterion, including wide colour gamut and HDR.

Tons of new and improved technology

8K OLED is finally here

LG’s new lineup of TV’s all feature a host of varied technologies that enhance performance and picture quality across the board. The new third-generation α9 Gen 3 AI Processor which leverages upgraded processing power and artificial intelligence deep learning for even better picture quality.

A new Filmmaker mode is supported by Hollywood’s leading directors, delivers images the way they were intended. It disables certain post-processing like motion smoothing and noise reduction while preserving correct aspect ratios, colours and frame rates.

LG continues to iterate on its award-winning WebOS smart TV platform adding new services like Disney+ and Apple TV+ for a ton of excellent, curated content.

There is no word on pricing or availability at the time of this writing but we expect the new TV’s to start appearing on Aussie shelves in Q2 of 2020.
