Kerbal Space Program 2 is going to take you to new places with Interstellar Travel

UPDATE – This article originally stated that Kerbal Space Program 2 would launch before March 31, 2020, in error. It has been updated to reflect the current launch window of between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.

Announced last year at Gamescom, Private Division and Star Theory Games have been working diligently on Kerbal Space Program 2. The follow-up to the surprise smash hit Kerbal Space Program, the sequel will launch early this year and includes all-new features. In addition to new planets, new technology, the ability to establish colonies and more, players will be able to engage in Interstellar Travel.

Each new feature of Kerbal Space Program 2 ties into the overall experience. According to the developer, “Next-gen tech, colonies, and systematic resource gathering all lead to a whole new level of exploration: interstellar travel.”

Travelling to new star systems brings all-new challenges to Kerbal Space Program 2 along with unknown treasures. Some of the new planets you’ll encounter are Ovin, Rask and Rusk.

Nate Simpson, Creative Director at Star Theory said of the sequel;

KSP has always been about pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity, and with Kerbal Space Program 2we take that premise even further.

We are introducing several new ways for players to challenge themselves, including new physics puzzles to solve, new planetary destinations to conquer, and new ways to advance their own deep-space program.

This continues to be a game about exploration, imagination, and understanding rocket physics – with plenty of wild crashes along the way.

While the new technology, new planets, Interstellar Travel and the ability to establish colonies are all welcome additions, fans will be pleased to know that multiplayer will be available. This will give Kerbal Space Program 2 players the chance to explore together and share their interplanetary and interstellar experiences.

Star Theory Games has also promised to improve and upgrade the modding experience of the first game.

Kerbal Space Progam 2 will launch for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It will be available on PC via Steam between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.
