Narcos Rise of the Cartels launches digitally on November 19

Earlier this year, Curve Digital and Kuju announced that they had partnered to create a game based on Netflix’s Narcos. The game, Narcos Rise of the Cartels is coming to PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One this month digitally with physical retail versions launching on December 6. Recreating the events of the first season of the show, the Narcos game is a tactical turn-based title that gives players the choice to side with the cartels or the DEA.

Each side of this drug war has its very own, complete campaign to play through.

In 1980’s Colombia El Patrón’s influence is rapidly expanding, with drugs, corruption and crime spreading out from the Colombian town of Medellin. America is now starting to take notice. Do you help the Narcos’ drug empire rise to the top under the watchful eye of El Patrón, or topple the growing criminal enterprise alongside Steve Murphy as the DEA?

Featuring locations and characters from the show, Narcos Rise of the Cartels gives players a chance to make their mark on this criminal enterprise.

Narcos Game

Units in Narcos Rise of the Cartels each have special and unique abilities and perks for use in battle. Additionally, units on both sides take turns at the same time. This should give the gameplay a faster pace and more tense feel.

Players will also be able to take direct control of units in third-person during some moments. Teams will be created by the player, choosing from a cast of characters with their abilities and perks crucial to a well-rounded squad.

Fans of the show will be pleased to see that the characters and visuals all look exactly as they should and are based on the actors from Narcos.

Turn-based strategy games have seen a resurgence recently and Narcos Rise of the Cartels looks like another worthy release. We’ll find out if it’s any good when it’s released on November 19 on digital stores.

It will be available at retail on December 6.
