Overwatch is being released on Switch in October

Overwatch is coming to Switch in October, at least according to some retail leaks and a report from Kotaku. The announcement of Overwatch on Switch is reportedly going to occur in the Nintendo Direct scheduled for 3 PM PT on September 4, 2019. However, thanks to Amazon’s accidental listing of a Switch case with the Overwatch emblem and now a European retailer’s leaked release date, it’s clear that the cat is out of the bag.

Not only that, Kotaku writes that it has confirmed with two of its sources that Overwatch Switch is indeed coming out in October.

It’s been a long time coming, but Overwatch is certainly going to be a welcome addition to the console.

Overwatch Switch

What form Overwatch is in when it releases on Nintendo’s console remains to be seen, but it is likely to be the most up to date patch. This will mean that on Switch it will include all of the released heroes, up and including Sigma.

It will also include Role Queue for Ranked play, the Arcade, Overwatch Workshop and more.

Having launched in 2016 and been through three years of limited-time events, Switch owners are going to be really far behind in terms of skins, emotes and cosmetics.

Perhaps Blizzard will run a special one-time launch event on Switch which will give Switch players a chance to earn skins and try out the holiday and themed events.

In any case, Overwatch on Switch is happening and according to all sources, it will be available on October 18, 2019.
