There’s a Darksiders board game but you can only get it with the Darksiders Genesis Nephilim Edition

Darksiders has a history of ridiculous collector’s editions. When Darksiders Warmastered Edition was being released in 2016, THQ Nordic partnered with Green Man Gaming for the £66,600 ($113,000 AUD) Apocalyptic Horse Stable Edition. Thankfully, Darksiders Genesis isn’t getting anything so crazy. The Nephilim Edition only costs £349.99 ($630 AUD) and it comes with some very cool swag.

Obviously, a copy of Darksiders Genesis is included as is a figurine, steelbook, artbook, soundtrack and other tidbits. However, it’s the Darksiders: The Forbidden Lands board game that really makes this edition worth it.

This Darksiders board game is a co-operative dungeon crawler board game for 1-5 players that lets you and your friends play as all four horsemen at the same time

Darksiders: The Forbidden Lands

The description of Darksiders: The Forbidden Lands reads;

With asymmetric player abilities, you can play as War, Death, Fury or Strife and experience the game completely differently each time. Beside 61 phenomenally detailed and pre-painted minis, the game includes customisable decks of cards for each Rider.

That means that even multiple games with the same rider will be different. Manage your cards well, as you will be using them to move, attack enemies and upgrade your rider using Darksiders: The Forbidden Land’s unique new card economy mechanic.

But don’t blow through them too quickly though, because once your deck runs out you’ve lost the battle.

Included in the game are;

  • 61 pre-painted (!) Miniatures – including War, Death, Fury, Strife and the massive End-Boss the Jailer as high-quality pre-painted miniatures
  • 124 Tokens
  • 36 Multi-Hex-Space Modular Boards
  • 423 Cards
  • 4 Player Boards
  • Custom Dice
  • Rulebook
  • Campaign Book

The campaign book includes a massive story set over 19 levels and several scenarios for players to play through. As the game is designed or five players and there are only four horsemen, the fifth player serves as the game master, controlling the monsters and attempting to thwart the horsemen.

Darksiders: The Forbidden Lands is playable without a GM, but with one, it’s more tactical and difficult.

Only available by purchasing the Darksiders Genesis Nephilim Edition, Darksiders: The Forbidden Lands is for ultimate fans.
