Moons of Madness trailer shows how it will mess with your head

Moons of Madness, from Rock Pocket Games, is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One this Halloween. Described as a cosmic horror game, we know that this means Moons of Madness is going to lean on the Cthulhu mythos and the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. Playing as lowly electrician Shane, players find themselves stuck on Mars, waiting to be relieved when strange things start occurring.

In true Lovecraftian fashion, Shane and others stationed at Invictus, the Mars research station, start having hallucinations and seeing visions. Shane is also put under pressure when vital station systems go offline and things start malfunctioning.

Worse still, the other team members haven’t returned from their EVA mission and Shane is starting to panic that he’s losing his mind.

Moons of Madness

The 12-minute video below gives a really good indication of the gameplay and horror players will experience in Moons of Madness. You see Shane explore the base and start to experience troubling and strange things.

A lot of the video is set in darkness with only the pathetic light of a torch to lead the way. Moons of Madness seems inspired by other first-person horror games like SOMA, Outlast, Layers of Fear and of course, Alien: Isolation.

We here at PowerUp! are big sci-fi and Cthulhu fans so we’re particularly keen on Moons of Madness. Stay tuned for more on the game soon.

Moons of Madness launches this Halloween for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
