Warhammer Age of Sigmar Champions is now available for Switch

Games Workshop and Play Fusion have brought their digital card game, Warhammer Age of Sigmar Champions to Switch. It’s not the first trading card game to arrive on Switch, but it is certainly the biggest and most well supported.

With Hearthstone not coming to Switch and The Elder Scrolls Legends announced, but not yet released, Age of Sigmar Champions is in a great position to become the leading trading card game on the Switch.

Additionally, as Age of Sigmar Champions exists as a real-world physical tabletop game, players are able to scan their physical cards and use them in the digital version.

The game includes four Grand Alliances to choose from when crafting decks; Chaos, Order, Destruction and Death. Players sent four Champions into battle who each are able to perform certain actions. This includes using abilities, sending out units, casting spells and more.

Each champion has a mission to carry out and when achieved, activates a powerful Blessing that can turn the tide of battle.

The Switch version of Age of Sigmar Champions is cross-play compatible with PC and Mobile and is playable with Joy-Cons or the touchscreen. It does need a constant internet connection though, so taking it away from your home will mean it needs to be tethered to your smartphone or another wifi source.

Mark Gerhard, CEO and Co-Founder of PlayFusion said of the release on Switch;

The response for the physical and digital game has already been incredible, and we just can’t wait to watch that grow to new heights. With the upcoming release of our Set 3 cards in Savagery, and a whole heap of new features like Arena of Echoes and Realm Trials, there’s always going to be something new to try. And now, there will be a much bigger community to try with.

The Switch version includes the new Arena of Echoes and single-player campaign Realm Trials.

Players can purchase a Champions Pass for $7.99 AUD which gives players access to;

  • One free card daily
  • The ability to avoid the same Alliance in Casual Matches
  • A Cosmetic Flair
  • Re-Roll Booster Packs
  • Discounted Purchases

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Champions is free-to-play and includes in-game purchases of booster packs and gems.
