Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi hasn’t considered porting Yakuza to Switch

In an interview with IGN Japan, creator of the Yakuza series Toshihiro Nagoshi spoke about the potential for Yakuza to appear on Switch.

Asked by the interviewer if Nagoshi had considered porting Yakuza to Switchhe responded simply;

I haven’t considered it at this time.

Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami were released for PC on Steam, though no other games in the series have been released on the platform.

Yakuza Switch

In August 2013, Ryū ga Gotoku 1&2 HD was released for Wii U in Japan but was never released in the west., This was the first time the series was released on a non-PlayStation platform. In an interview with EDGE magazine back in August 2018, Nagoshi said;

I’ve never said this before, but while we released this game with Sony, I’d done presentations about it to Microsoft and Nintendo. Back then they said “No we don’t want it.” Now they say, “We want it!” (laughs)

They didn’t understand the reason why I created it.

For now, I guess those of us hoping to play Yakuza on our Switch will have to keep on hoping.

Yakuza 6 is the most recent release in the series and is exclusive to PS4. The spin-off Judgment is coming to PS4 on Jun 25, 2019.
