Avalanche Studios, the developer behind Just Cause, Mad Max and the upcoming Rage 2 has also been hard at work on a project closer to home; Generation Zero.

Set in Sweden in the 1980s, Generation Zero depicts a world invaded by mysterious machines. Players will need to fight back against persistently simulated enemies. 

Robotic enemies in Generation Zero remain in the world and retain all damage done by the player. Should you remove a part of their armour, some weaponry or another component, the robot will permanently lack that piece of equipment. It doesn’t matter how long before you face them again, all damage will be retained forever.

Generation Zero features an open-world, day/night cycle and a weather system all built using Avalanche’s Apex Engine. Players can take the fight to the robots alone or with three friends. The multiplayer is seamless according to Avalanche and players will need to work together to survive. 

And surviving is the name of the game. 

The Generation Zero release date is March 26, 2019 and to celebrate, Avalanche has announced a special edition. The collector’s edition includes;

• A premium steelbook game case
• A cloth map of the game world
• A t-shirt
• A unique Generation Zero take on the traditional dala horse statue…and more.
