Emotions were high during the high stakes Arena World Championships Finals for World of Warcraft at Blizzcon 2018.
Method Orange fought all the way through the upper bracket and demonstrated they had the skills, discipline and teamwork to take home gold. After heartbreak year after year — always a bridesmaid and never the bride — Cdew finally caught the ever elusive first place finish he has been chasing.
Arguably one of the best PVPers World of Warcraft has ever seen, Cdew has waited a long time to taste sweet victory.
Arena World Championships
Defeating their much respected rivals The Gosu Crew, Method Orange fought hard to secure a 4-0 victory. In a very tearful thanks speech, Cdew thanked his wife and newborn son at home for their support and being his biggest fans.
But it’s bigger than one man. The Method Orange roster played flawlessly all tournament. Trill with his relentless Demon Hunter damage and positioning, never letting up on his opponents. Samiyam with his Balance Druid, controlling his opponents with perfectly timed cyclones and burst damage.
And finally Mes, the New Zealander who is the fourth and final member of Method Orange, didn’t play a single round in the final but his coaching and insight were key to the team’s success in the final.
World of Warcraft Arena World Championships
The Gosu Crew fought their way through the lower bracket for their chance at glory, but combining the fatigue of a full day’s games as well as the flawless performance by Method, 2018 just wasn’t their year.
All teams that competed in the Arena World Championships are the top tier PVPers in all of the World of Warcraft community, sadly the Melbourne ORDER couldn’t adjust to the LAN environment and were knocked out early.
The ANZ region has lots of development to go in international esports, but even making it to the main stage is an honour and a dream for most of these young players. BlizzCon 2018 has really captured the spirit of competitive esports, with top-notch production and coverage as well as promoting a family friendly environment, informative casters and focus on sportsmanship.
As the Arena season comes to a close, all the teams begin preparations for next year. By researching patch notes and game changes, trying new strategies and team comps.
Excitingly though for fans of Method and Cdew, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him. It was with a heart heavy full of love for his fans, supporters and teams he announced that he will continue to play with Method for as long as they’ll have him.
